Common Issues
Initialization Fails
- Verify your App ID and API Key are correct, and the haptic app is deployed in the Developer Portal.
- On iOS and visionOS,
initialize downloads the haptic events from the server. Check the device has an internet connection.
- On macOS, ensure bHaptics Player is installed and running. If your app uses App Sandbox, enable Outgoing Connections (Client).
No Devices Found
- Call
scan() only after the bleStateChange delegate method reports true. Scanning before Bluetooth is ready does nothing.
- Use
getBluetoothState() to tell the cause apart: 3 means the user denied Bluetooth permission, 4 means Bluetooth is off.
- Check that
NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription is set in your app's Info settings.
- Bluetooth is not available on iOS Simulator and visionOS Simulator. Test on a real device.
- Make sure the haptic device is turned on and not connected to another phone or PC.
- On macOS, devices are not scanned by the SDK. Pair them in bHaptics Player.
Haptic Effects Not Playing
- Check that the device is paired and connected:
getDevices() returns the device with connected == true.
- Check that the event name exists in
getEventList(). Event names are case-sensitive.
- Call
play after initialize has completed. Events are not available until initialization finishes.
- Check device battery level.
